They Don't Care About Us

Randy here, with my two cents on 'The Killing':
The series has shown how difficult it is for an adaptation to compete with a strong source material. Forbrydelsen's an unique TV experience - suspenseful, engrossing and real. AMC's 'The Killing' lost its purpose by trying to be different. The 'game aspect' of the series (guessing the killer & keeping the audience guessing) became the main focus instead of the human drama in the wake of a terrible murder.

Mitch was disappointingly one-dimensional, which is a shame because Michelle's extraordinary acting gifts were not used to their full effect. Nevertheless, she was wonderful, as was Brent Sexton and the younger actors.

Chris' take on AMC's The Killing:
I don't really know what to say. Brown is a difficult colour. Real life is messy. Wellies. Torrents, lots of torrents.
Denny Larsen: "They don't care about us." (episode 5, Super 8)
Great performances by Michelle Forbes, Brent Sexton and the kids actors.

I'd wish that producers and writers would treat Michelle's character(s) with more respect and love.

Faith moves mountains, Dad moves the rest.

One more thing. Watch the original, watch Forbrydelsen. It's fantastic, entertaining and suspenseful TV. Subtle and understated characters. A sparse dialogue, plenty of close ups from different angles, stunning lighting. A careful use of sound. A gentle camera which is in love with the portrayed individuals. An outstanding Sofie Gråbøl as Sarah Lund, brilliant supporting actors. A straightforward storytelling that never lost its focus as a thrilling murder mystery: the investigation of a brutal killing.

Something Dark and Touching

Will you be watching The Killing season finale this Sunday?

* "So, if The Killing wraps up Rosie's murder in the season finale, will the Larsens be around next year? — Leslie
ADAM: I certainly hope so, given the strong performances by Michelle Forbes and Brent Sexton this season. And it sounds pretty likely. "The family is back in Season 2," Sexton tells us. "I'll leave it at that."

* Michelle Forbes:
Q : Anything on the second season?
A: I know nothing. I have no idea, I'm always so stymied when I'm asked that question.

* Grief comes in many different colours.
* Forbrydelsen had these insanely compelling dramatic last 4 episodes, with Pernille (=Mitch), one of her boys and Sarah teaming up. And Theis (= Stan) ....
* In AMC's adaptation the real stuff has only just begun :p Compared to Forbrydelsen they're only mid-way through.
* The killer has done it before.
